clay for keeps

At Big Mug Co., we throw clay with intention and fire pieces with purpose. We're not interested in perfect uniformity or factory-line precision— we're here for the beautiful imperfections that come from human hands shaping earth into something functional and lasting.

Every mug and vessel in our collection is hand-thrown in small batches using traditional pottery techniques that have endured for centuries. We believe in the power of the handmade object in a world increasingly dominated by the disposable and mass-produced. Our minimalist, raw aesthetic celebrates the natural beauty of clay while creating pieces that feel both timeless and distinctly modern.

We serve design-conscious individuals who understand that the vessel matters as much as what fills it. Whether you're seeking the perfect gift or adding authentic character to your home, our ceramics offer a sustainable alternative to the endless parade of throwaway homewares flooding the market.

Big Mug Co. represents our commitment to slow craft in a fast world— where every piece is made to be used, loved, and passed down rather than discarded.

meet the maker

I'm Tanya, a clay artist with 25 years of experience. What started as a way to escape the digital noise in my life turned into something much deeper— a practice that grounds me daily.

I'm drawn to clean lines and thoughtful minimalism—the understated beauty that lets each piece speak for itself. There's something honest about clay that mass production can never replicate—every slight asymmetry, every variation tells the story of its making.

The pottery process represents both ritual and transformation for me, moving raw earth from malleable clay to permanent form. This evolution reflects clay's dual nature: initially under my control at the wheel, then taking on an independent existence after firing that exists entirely on its own terms.

I love how objects tell their stories through use—each scratch and worn spot reveals a moment in someone's life. That's what drives Big Mug Co.: creating pieces with character and presence that gather stories over time, objects made with intention rather than churned out by machines.

I create each piece hoping it will continue gathering stories in your home, in your hands. My fingerprints remain in the clay, but there's always space for your life to leave its mark too.
